THERAPIST

Melissa Rappaport, MA, LLPC
Hi, I’m Melissa. I hold a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling (2020) and K-12 School Guidance & Counseling from Siena Heights University (1997). With 32 years of experience in education as a former elementary teacher and school counselor, I bring a deep understanding of child and adolescent development to my work. I’m also certified in Telemental Health and Child & Adolescent Anxiety Treatment.
My approach is warm, nonjudgmental, and rooted in authenticity. I’m passionate about social justice, LGBTQ+ equality, and supporting clients navigating issues related to gender identity, sexual orientation, and oppression. My training and lived experience provide a unique depth of understanding, particularly when working with sexual and gender minorities coping with trauma, grief, and disconnection.

I use a range of treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, and boundaries work. I work with children, teens, and adults facing anxiety, depression, PTSD, life transitions, grief, and interpersonal challenges.

Outside of the office, I enjoy kayaking, mountain biking, camping, gardening, and home DIY projects. I believe everyone deserves a safe space to heal—and I’d be honored to hold that space with you.
